Maydaye News August 2005
This year the British Championships were held at a new venue – Haywards Heath in Mid Sussex.
As usual a Raffle took place on each day and we made a profit of £272
Our "Special Draw" made possible once again by Debbie Evans who works at the "Red Bull Motor Racing" facility.
89 tickets were sold giving us £445.00 to put in the Fund
Debbie drew the winning tickets and the first two drawn for the Tour were won by Lee Pittaway (ticket sold by Keith Salter) and Jai Hadgraft who was so delighted by her win that she gave the Tour to her Dad. Both these Tours include the winner and three guests.
This year the Keepers of the Fund are pleased to announce that the Precision Team will once again receive a donation of £200.00 toward their travel expenses.
For this year it is the turn of "Cup of Europe" Skaters who will each receive £20.00.
29 skaters have been selected to go and details of the cash allocation from the Fund, were sent out with the official letter from FARS.
£25.00 was allocated to the 6 skaters going to Slovenia for Cadet/Youth Championships as well as the 15 Skaters going to Italy for the Junior/Senior European Championships.
Skaters selected for the World Championships will receive a similar sum from the Fund.
Before we started to pay out this year the Fund stood at £2101.53
Our Chairman, Roy Searing, had a second operation on his knee which once again has not been successful so he has to go back for a third time in the near future.
Our condolences go to Jocelyn, Ashley, Angela and family on the sad loss of Richard. Also to Marie and family in Australia on the death Ron Irving.
Our next Competition will be at the St. Ivo Centre for the Brooks Challenge on November 6th 2005 where there will be a Raffle and maybe a Tombola. If anyone has prizes I would be very grateful.
The Keepers of the Fund would like to thank Kevin Robinson for all of his help in the past.
Kevin would always send to us admission passes for all Federation Events with estimated attendance numbers which allowed for raffle prizes to allocated. He also printed off address labels for skaters selected for help from the Fund and would include offer letters to the skaters with the official letters from the Federation.
All this help cut down on postal costs to the fund
My thanks one again to everyone who brought prizes to the British Championships.
Good Luck to all our skaters in their forthcoming events
See you soon
Bobbie
