Carole Mould

Carole joined the National Skating Association in 1950 after being taken to the local Roller Rink at Wakefield, Yorkshire, at the tender age of 6 by her parents. There and then she fell in love with skating and asked if she could have a lesson. Thereafter follows a long a varied skating lifetime.

Skating Career



Carole worked very hard during the next few years and passed her Gold Tests in Dance, Figures and Free Skating and Bronze Pair Skating. Carole passed her Gold Dance Test when she was only a fortnight turned 10 years old.

Championships and Competition were to follow :-

1957 Armstrong and Lancaster cups
1958 British Junior Champion
1960 British Ladies Championship
1st place in Free Skating
3rd place in combined

Following her success with National events, she was selected
to skate in several International events in the following period.

Judging Career


Passed the National Judges Test in 1987

Became an International ‘A’ Judge in 1989

Following which she judged World Championships, World Games European Championships and many International Competitions including Show and Precision events.
The first World Championships she judged was in 1991 in
Sydney, Australia and the final one being 2010 in Portimao,
Portugal.

Carole continues to judge in many club competitions at which
she enjoys her continued participation in our beloved sport.

Skating Offices and Administrative roles

Carole was Honorary Regional Officer for the Midlands area for many years, looking after arranging Tests and many other roles dealt with in that position.
She performed the role of International Team Manager, looking after all the technical and personal needs of our skaters in their International events.
She was a highly respected member of the FARS Technical Committee, and
was also involved in producing the structure for Championships and Competitions that make up the Calendar of Events we have today.
She has also been involved in the revision of Test Schedule etc., over the years
and Squad co-ordinator was also one of her roles on the FARS Board of Management. During that period they produced World and European Champions both in Figures and Free as well as Dance and medalling at nearly every International event.
